Cheval Noir was founded by head trainer Hannah Rickles in 2018. Hannah is a USDF Bronze Medalist currently showing Prix St. Georges and has worked at several equine facilities from the time she was 16. Starting as a barn hand, she dedicated her time to improving her riding skills and learning all she could about horse care and worked her way up the ladder to become a successful equestrian. During this time she dedicated herself to learning the correct foundations of dressage. She trains with many national and international trainers, including Christian Schacht, Micah Deligdish, Luis Valenca, Filipa Valenca, Lea Forge, and Patrick King. Hannah's focus is a small facility that allows her to give 100% to her clients and their horses.

Jana Perez started at Cheval Noir in 2020 as a working student while she was taking a gap year from the Savannah College of Art and Design due to covid. She graduated with her degree at SCAD in Equestrian Studies in June 2023 and has accepted a groom position at Cheval Noir.
